Wreaths Across America

Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine provides Christmas wreaths to be placed on veteran’s grave sites every December. American Legion Post 53 is proud and honored to receive a wreath to be placed on Medal of Honor recipient M/SGT Charles Hoskins’ plot. He is buried at Valleau Cemetery. M/SGT Hoskins is one of five buried in New Jersey.


A Quilt of Honor was awarded to Jack Marcasciano for his service during the Vietnam War. Jack is a resident of Ridgewood originally from the Bronx, New York were he resided when drafted in 1966.  After his service Jack became a career Banker focusing on Regulatory Compliance for foreign banks with branch offices located in the United States.

Traditionally, the quilt is awarded to individuals who while on active duty received special recognition from their superior officers.  The following members have previously been awarded a Quilt of Honor, Chris Stout, Matt Bombace, Jack Geraghty, Pete Gibbons, Stan Kober, Wayne Lemme, Jerry Maksymowicz, Mark Steppe, Al Stone, Jim Sutherland and Joe Vrana.

2019 Scholarships

Two Ridgewood Post 53 scholarships for 2019 have been awarded to the following recipients:

Scholastic Scholarship – Ciara Emmanuel

Music Scholarship  – Michael McCoy
