APPROPRIATE DISPOSAL of AMERICAN FLAGS
There  are TWO  deposit sites to drop off used ,tattered  and worn American Flags.
One is in the village hall on 2nd floor at Police Desk.
One is at the Ridgewood R.R.station outside the ticket office.

MEMORIAL DAY FLAGS

On May 12th volunteers placed flags on gthe graves of veterans at Valleau Cemetry.

WREATH LAYING

On December 21 Post 53 Lay Christmas Wreaths a Valleau Cemetery to remember our fallen veterans. Six wreaths were laid to represent each of the branches of the armed forces. A seventh wreath was placed at the grave site of Medal of Honor reciepient Charles Hoskins, one of only five buried in the State of New Jersey.

 FLAG RETRIEVAL
On November 18th, Post 53 and members of the community removed the flags placed on May 13th.
BLUE STAR DINNER
On Friday October 6, 2017 Post 53 sponsored a dinner for our Blue Star families.  100 people attended.
GOLD STAR MOTHERS DAY EVENT
Gold Star Mothers Day, Sunday, September 24th was commemorated with a display of luminaries in Van Neste Square begining at 7 pm in Van Neste Square.

JULY 4TH RIDGEWOOD PARADE

Post 53 distinguished itself by presiding over the July 4th flag raising and marching in Ridgewoods july 4th parade.

MEMORIAL DAY

On May 29, 2017, American Legion Post 53 participated in the ceremony in Van Ness Park honoring people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
