What’s New – Events


Our meetings are usually on the first  Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m.  at the Ridgewood Firehouse located at 201 E. Glen Avenue recreation room. Parking is located at the back of the firehouse.  There are no meetings in July and August.

The Community Thrift Shop in Midland Park Shopping Center will take donations on behalf of American Legion post 53.  Our donation number is 13.

 2020 Upcoming Events

Monday May 31, 2021 Memorial Day service at Van Neste Square starting at 11:00  a.m.  If it rains, the event will be held at Mt. Carmel Church.

 June 14, Flag Day, members of Post 53 will visit the 6 elementary schools to discuss flag etiquette.

Post 53 will again march in the Ridgewood July 4th parade that will be held on Monday July 5, 2021.

Gold Star Families American Legion Post 53 will honor Gold Star Families for their sacrifice at Van Neste Square Sunday September 26th starting at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, October 22, 2021 (date is tentative and subject to change) Blue Star Family Dinner. The dinner will be held in the Parish Center of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (pending approval by the church) starting at 7:00 p,m.  All members of Ridgewood American Legion Post 53 are invited to salute and honor the numerous Blue Star Families in Ridgewood and the surrounding community.  Please enter the center from the Passaic St. entrance in Ridgewood.  Please also bring a guest and family. You MUST respond to Commander Bob Paoli at 201-445-1738 if you intend to attend or email Bob  at bobpaoli@verizon.net

Thursday, November 11, 2021 Veterans Day Service at 11:00 a.m. Van Neste Square Village of Ridgewood

Saturday, November 14, 2021 9:00 a.m. at Valleau Cemetery Flag Retrieval. Volunteers and members are welcome to attend

On a date to be announced in December 2021, Members of Ridgewood American Legion Post 53 will place Wreaths across America at Valleau Cemetery honoring each branch of the United States Armed Forces.
