In a project initiated by American Legion Post 53, the Ridgewood Village Council approved at the June 14, 2023 Public Meeting placement of a permanent tribute to Gold Star Families in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square. 

Referred by some as “the unseen side of Memorial Day.” The monument is meant to be an instrument of expression, loss and grief to portray the emotion and strength of Gold Star Family members, the anguish that families experience with any military loss. 

This project is on schedule to be finished for unveiling on Gold Star Family Day, September 29, 2024. A dedication of the Gold Star Families Monument will take place at 4:30 pm at Van Neste Square. All are welcome to attend.
